THE CAR SHOW
IMPORTANT UPDATE: SHOW PARKING WILL BEGIN AT 7:00AM. NO PARKING IN THE SHOW CAR SECTION UNTIL THAT TIME. IT'S FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. WE ARE LIMITED TO 350 SPACES.
Every Car Has A story, and Wings over Wheels wants you to share it. Whether it was your first car, your dream car... if you bought it new, used or was your frame up restoration project, we would love to see it. Antiques, muscle cars, hot rods, exotics, ex-military, trucks, race cars, lo-riders, car clubs featuring a specific brand or type, or the very latest in new cars. If you love it, bring it and show it! But don't get there late, the first 300 show cars will receive a commemorative dash plaque along with a collectors event pin. Details below on how to redeem your items.
Car Show parking: When you pull into the airport off of Renwick Rd, you will come to a check-point. Notify the attendant you are a show car and you will be directed to your next check point. At this time, present $20 and you will be given your show area parking pass. Proceed by following directions of the parking attendants.
Car Show Check-in procedure: When you have parked your car, proceed to the check-in table with your parking pass. At that time you'll register your car and will be given your vehicle information display card. Also, you will be given the 1 free meal ticket good for either breakfast or lunch. (more tickets can be purchased inside the hanger at the breakfast/lunch cashier). After the information has been filled out on the display card, bring it back to your car to display. Please make sure it is visible for our judges to see so your car can be judged. Judging will begin around 9:00am and will continue until about 12:30pm Get there early because only card holders #1-300 will receive their dash plaques and collector pins later in the day. There are around 100 extra pins that will be available for purchase but they look like they'll be sold quickly.
Car Show dash plaques and pins: Approximately around 1:00pm, one of our show representatives will be walking around looking at your vehicle information cards for numbers 1-300. At that time, they will present the plaques and pins to the owners or representative of the vehicles. If you are not present, they may be left inside of the vehicle at the representatives discretion. Please check your floor mats for the items if left.
Car Show Awards: The judging will end at 1:00pm. The judges will convene in a secret hiding place and will determine the awards to be given out to the category winners. Categories will be finalized around May 25th to be judged.
Car Show Judging: So you're asking: How will the cars be judged? Good question. The awards are fun based. Categories such as Chrome Magnet, Furthest Drive, and Rattiest Rat are just a few. There are going to be a few popular vote categories, such as the 'Pilots Pick' and 'Peoples Choice'. There will also be the WOW Award which will be chosen by select individuals associated with WOW. Judging will not have a specific set of standards, we are not going off of a 100 pinot system. This is a day of fun for the people, both entrants and spectators.
UPDATE: As of this posting, we are going to limit the show car count to 350. This is based off the amount of space available this year. There were plans to expand to 500-600, but the extra space is being farmed this season. That space will be available for 2019. So, get there early to get your spot. Parking begins at 7:00am. If we find more room, we'll be happy to park more show cars. We're working on it and will post if anything changes.
ABSOLUTELY NO BURNOUTS, TRAILER PARKING, WEAPONS, BBQ'S, DRUGS OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES. AlSO, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SMOKING AT THE AIRPORT AS IT IS A FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT AND ALSO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL PRESENT. BE RESPECTFUL TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY.
